Kwankah Taka started
as a chemical engineer.
He followed
a family path.
Engineering felt safe.
It felt expected.
By his mid-20s,
he was working long hours.
Mines.
Remote sites.
12-hour shifts.
From the outside,
he looked successful.
Inside,
he felt stuck.
He was tired.
Unfulfilled.
Disconnected.
Work took everything.
He missed weddings.
Family events.
Trips with friends.
Each missed moment cost him more.
His relationships
started to strain.
One day,
it became clear.
This was not
the life he wanted.
In 2018,
he found data science.
Data felt different.
It was problem-solving.
It was creative.
It made sense.
But there was
a big gap.
No computer science degree.
No time for school.
No money for a master’s.
So he chose
a harder path.
He joined
a bootcamp.
He worked full time.
He studied at night.
Two to three hours.
Every evening.
For months.
It was exhausting. But it worked.
After six months,
he landed a role.
His first data job.
Life changed fast.
Better pay.
Better hours.
More balance.
He had time again.
That moment
sparked something bigger.
If he could pivot,
others could too.
So he built
Not a course.
A roadmap.
Today,
Kwankah helps three groups.
Career changers.
Laid-off professionals.
Data workers leveling up.
His focus is simple.
Bridge skills
to real jobs.
Build confidence.
Create support.
Because starting over
is hard alone.
Kwankah grew up
in Cameroon.
A big family.
Strong community.
Boarding school
taught discipline early.
Moving to Canada
at 18 changed everything.
New culture.
New pressure.
New expectations.
Those years
built resilience.
Today,
his values stay clear.
Community matters.
Integrity matters.
Growth is possible.
He believes
data is learnable.
Background does not
decide your future.
One opportunity
can change a life.
Through LumiSkills,
Kwankah helps people
choose work
that fits their life.
Not the other
way around.
